Frequently Asked Questions

Can you hold a bed for a patient who must leave the facility for a hospital stay?

Yes. For our Medicare residents, Heritage Home can hold a bed for up to 10 days per year while a patient is in the hospital and up to 18 days per year (limited to nine consecutive days at one time) for therapeutic leave. These residents must comply with all Medicaid eligibility regulations. Private-pay residents are required to pay the private-pay rate for each day a room is held.

Please consult with the site administrator for additional information about the Heritage Home bed hold policy.

Can family members eat meals with residents?

We welcome guests and family members to eat with residents. Visitors may purchase a guest tray from our Food Services team by placing an order in the business office during regular business hours or in the kitchen after regular business hours or on weekends. If you wish to bring a home-cooked meal to a resident, please alert the nursing staff to make sure food items comply with the patient’s diet.

Are children welcome to visit residents?

Yes, children are welcome to visit, but they should be supervised at all times. If several guests and family members wish to visit a resident at the same time, we recommend moving to one of our lobbies, porches or dining rooms to prevent overcrowding in our semi-private rooms.
